This is a webpage for CS1020 Introduction to Programming (4 credits) done in contact mode offered from June 23 to July 27. This course teaches basics of programming through the C language.

# Contact session
There will be two to three contact session per week on afternoons from **2.00 PM to 5.00 PM**. The schedule is given in the table below.
You are expected to attend all of them without fail.

For example, session 3 and 4 have the same exercise 2. This means that you get two sessions to complete this exercise and it will be evaluated on session 4 by the TA. Your attempts for the exercise should be uploaded in moodle before the session starts and it should be shown to the TA for evaluation. Upload in moodle is necessary since internet access will be cut during the session.

# Evaluation Policy
There are three main components - Theory, Lab and session exercises

* Theory - 30% (2 quizzes - 15% each, see "Contact session" for the schedule)
* Labs - 35% (via continuous evaluation during contact hours)
* Session exercises - 35%. Exercises need be submitted in moodle and will be evaluated as explained before. TAs and the instructor can ask questions based on it during the contact sessions.
* Grading will be absolute

# Lecture Plan and TA info

In addition, there will also be an instructor contact hour on all of the above sessions from 4.30 PM to 5.00 PM where students are free to ask questions on the theory part. On some days it 
could be from 2.00 PM to 2.30 PM also. Instructor may also choose to take a class (for 30 minutes) if there are no questions. We will release the materials one session ahead.

# Course plan and expectations
* TAs and the instructor will be available at the venue for the duration mentioned. 
* Internet access will be cut while the session is ongoing.
* _Before_ coming to the session, you are expected to $\ldots$
	* $\ldots$ watch the videos, slides assigned for that session. 
	* $\ldots$ solve the exercise questions assigned and submit them in moodle. 
    * $\ldots$ read the parts of the text mentioned in "Readings" 
* During the lab, you will be given lab questions which are to be solved and evaluated in the lab. These questions may be similar to the exercises given. TAs and instructors will help you if you have any issues.
* The two theory quizzes are scheduled on 09 July (Mid Quiz) and 27 July (End Quiz). It will be for one hour from 10 AM to 11 AM on the respective dates.
* There will be no separate lab examination. 
* There will be no make up session for lost sessions or exams as it is a contact course.
